What is PEA (Palmitoylethanolamide)?
PEA is a natural fatty acid amide produced in our body in response to injury or trauma to manage the effects of chronic pain and inflammation. PEA has neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving actions. In chronic pain and inflammatory conditions, the body’s natural production of PEA may be insufficient. Supplementation may be beneficial to assist with symptoms of pain and inflammation. PEA has been shown to improve nerve sensitisation which may be a contributing factor in prolonged pain symptoms.
