Event Overview

Medical cannabis therapy is gaining wider acceptance and interest in veterinary care for specific health indications as an adjunct to standard treatments.

This industry-first event is a rare opportunity for veterinary professionals to engage with the knowledge and clinical experience of their peers using medical cannabis judiciously in their treatment approach.

Renowned Australian veterinarians Dr Jaime Olsen (WA) and Dr Jennifer Robinson (VIC) have advocated for wider acceptance and access to medical cannabis where clinically appropriate, since it was rescheduled to a Schedule 4 medicine in 2017 for prescribed medical use in animals as well as humans.

In this live webinar, they generously share their respective journeys using medical cannabis with specific patients and how they have navigated this evolving area of medicine.

Highlights of the presentation

  • The endocannabinoid system and its interaction with medical cannabis
  • Regulatory overview for veterinary prescription and access to appropriate products
  • Research and clinical overview for applications in osteoarthritis, epilepsy, anxiety and cancer.
  • Case studies and prescribing information
  • Live Q and A

The live event will be recorded and will be made available via request to after Tuesday 5th April.

Meet Our Guest Presenters

Dr Jaime Olsen

BVSc MANZCVS (Small Animal Surgery)

Jaime graduated from James Cook University in Queensland in 2014. She started her career in Brisbane as a rotating intern in a multidisciplinary specialist hospital. She then moved to Perth to complete a surgical internship, where she developed a passion for soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, as well as rehabilitation, anaesthesia and analgesia. She obtained her Memberships in Small Animal Surgery in 2019.
She has been working in general practice since 2018 in a busy regional small animal clinic, and has recently started a concurrent part time position at the Perth Cat Hospital, focusing on complex surgical cases. Jaime loves all aspects of general practice and patient care, but has a passion particularly for orthopaedics, chronic pain management, surgical oncology, neurology and emergency and critical care.

Jaime spends her free time painting, gardening and doting on her rescue cat ’Small Fry’ and rabbit ‘Claude’.

Dr Jennifer Robinson

Veterinarian (DE, AUS)
Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (IVAS)
Certification in Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine (IVAS)

Jennifer graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine Hanover (Germany) in 2013 and completed an internship at Southpaws Specialty Surgery for Animals (Melbourne) in surgery, oncology, and internal medicine. Jen worked in general practice for several years, with a strong interest in integrative and geriatric medicine.

During her work, she encountered many cases, where conventional western medicine simply just wasn’t enough to help her patients. Over the coming years, Jen undertook several courses in geriatric/palliative care and canine rehabilitation and completed her training in Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine and Veterinary Acupuncture through IVAS (International Veterinary Acupuncture Society).

Jennifer started her own business (Melbourne Veterinary Acupuncture Pty Ltd) in 2016 and has grown a large client base since, with many vets across Melbourne referring patients in need.

She also enjoys her work as director and tutor of the Australian College of Veterinary Acupuncture and providing further education in integrative geriatric and palliative care to other veterinary clinics.
